Living in the netherlands, disabled (ADHD, Clusters, Migraines, SAD, dysphoria, light PTSD, light narcolepsy), the seasonal depressions hit me worse every year. Which means that by september, and all through april I just sag like a pudding and become progressively more inoperative. This is getting worse each year and sooner or later this will get well.... dangerous.
It isn't exactly a healthy lifestyle anyways.
I live in the Netherlands on disability and have a rent-controlled house either of which I can walk away from for months on end. And my disability income is pretty awful, being left with a cheque of about 50 euro per week. I have very little space either way.
This (lack of a ) lifestyle is slowly killing me. So, my escape plan would involve getting the hell out, 1-4 months a year to a place with more amenable daylight hours, average temperatures and psychological input. It wouldn't be a vacation, it would be an act of survival. And Gran Canaria would all in all be an ideal spot.
So starting this year or the next I'd be looking for a place to stay, a bed, a room, and some spending cash for food. Ideally there'd be internet somewhere nearby, which is about a critical to me as vitamins.
I am a near-perfect english speaker and writer. I am a graphic artist, good at photoshop, a decent concept artist, a great brainstormer. I do ample illustrations, and I know my way around several 3D software applications. I could do 3-6 hours a day of work, 3-6 days. preferably somewhat intellectually stimulating or creative content. I am a trained game designer, fwiw. Pay and workload needs only meet the cost of a place to live, food and some minor expenses, but I would resent feeling "exploited".
The idea is arrive with a plane ticket and a bag somewhere between september and december and leave again, ditto, between january and march. Being away from my own country (with a formal disability pension, and an empty apartment) is safe for a month but would certainly foolhardy for four months in a row. Bureaucrats over here are NUTS. Plus there would be some chance I'd get called back for whatever emergency situation.
Nevertheless if I can coagulate a rythm every year starting at a month this year and several months next year, it would probably make existence for me acutely less infernal for me. Which it is slowly becoming right now.
Southern spain, Italy, northern africa would be OK too. I am not interested in tourist spots - just a place to sleep, warmth and sunlight, internet access, some interesting sights every day within walking distance, a fair bit of safety, maybe a pharmacy nearby.
